With Voltage SecureData, data elements can be protected end-to-end, to neutralize the risk of breach or insider threat, while preserving the utility and analytic value of the data. Powerful data-centric Format-Preserving Encryption™ (FPE™) and Secure Stateless Tokenization™ (SST™) technologies from Voltage Security® enable privacy compliance and risk-reduced fraud detection in payments data sets, large data set pattern analysis in medical data, and customer behavior analysis for retail or financial services optimization.

Voltage SecureData also works across a broad range of enterprise platforms, applications, warehouses and databases, enabling data protection at the source, prior to ingestion into Hadoop, in addition to native Hadoop support. This flexibility allows data protection to take place close to where it is captured, reducing risk and compliance costs to the maximum extent while enabling flexible implementation options.


Voltage SecureData SimpleAPI can function independently to protect data upstream from MapR, within MapR, or as part of the egress processes. For an enterprise that protects data at the source with Voltage SecureData, there are no dependencies or compatibility issues, as the data flows into Hadoop in protected form. (Encrypting or tokenizing the data makes further protection of it in Hadoop unnecessary, which vastly simplifies the threat model and audit risk.) Some organizations integrate SecureData with an ETL process, or set up a landing zone to protect sensitive data at ingestion. Voltage SecureData can also be integrated within the MapR Hadoop distribution, encapsulated with Java UDFs (User Defined Functions)–for example, with Hive, MapReduce, Sqoop, or Flume. SecureData can also be integrated downstream from MapR, with implementations directly in BI (business intelligence) platforms or tools, protecting the data before the analyst has access to it.
