Robert Novak, Big Data Consulting Systems Engineer, "retired" in 2014 from nearly two decades as a full stack system administrator to join the Cisco family. He supported companies and infrastructures ranging from small storage and networking startups to some of the largest brands in the world.
He began working with big data platforms in 2003. His first business-critical Hadoop cluster went into production in late 2009 with Cloudera's distribution. Robert's introduction into the Cisco ecosystem came in 2011 with the early days of the UCS C-Series platform, with one of the first multidomain UCS Manager-integrated C-Series environments.
Robert was chosen as one of the first Cisco Champions for social media in summer 2013, and is a VMware vExpert for the fourth year in a row. In 2014, he joined Cisco's partner organization as an advocate, evangelist, and educator around Cisco's big data and analytics partnerships. He writes at his own rsts11.com blog and select third party venues. He has been a peer-selected delegate to Tech Field Day events a dozen times, and probably owns more computers than you do.
