MapR And Informatica Announce Joint Support To Deliver High Performance Big Data Integration And Analysis

March 05, 2012

Combination makes moving high volume transaction, interaction and real-time streaming data into Hadoop a reality

MapR Technologies, Inc., a provider of next generation distribution for Apache Hadoop and Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the world's number one independent provider of data integration software, today announced joint support for MapR's distribution for Hadoop with the Informatica Platform. In addition, Informatica HParser Community Edition which is available for free, will be available for download as part of the MapR distribution from the MapR website. The MapR distribution is also available through the EMC Greenplum MR Edition and Cisco UCS.

By using MapR and Informatica together, organizations will now be able to perform high performance data integration, replication and messaging. Together the two companies can push the limits of high performance networks and move many terabytes per hour of transaction, interaction and streaming data into MapR, as well as parse and process a broad range of structured and unstructured data natively in Hadoop, all without coding.

"As the big data ecosystem continues to grow more holistic, data management practices are needed to address the challenges of information volume, variety, velocity and complexity," said Merv Adrian, research vice president, Gartner Research. "Coupling advanced data management practices is the next step organizations need to take as they build a platform that expands the breadth and depth of applications."

Unique Advantages of the Combination of MapR and Informatica

Informatica HParser provides Hadoop developers with out-of-the-box Hadoop parsing capabilities to address a wide variety and complexity of data sources, including logs, call data records, industry standards, documents and binary or hierarchical data. Native support for MapR enables HParser users to take advantage of the dependability, speed and ease of use of MapR's platform.

"Big data comes in many shapes and sizes, from transaction data to social, streaming and other forms of machine generated data both in batch and real-time," said Sachin Chawla, senior vice president and general manager, Data Integration, Informatica. "For the first time, MapR and Informatica are providing a solution that handles the volume, variety and velocity of big data, combining the power of data integration, data replication, messaging with the simplicity of no-code design in Informatica."

"The Informatica and MapR partnership provides unique advantages for organizations looking for performance, scale and dependability," said John Schroeder, CEO of MapR. "In addition, we've received strong customer response for our joint support of real-time streaming of messages into Hadoop. Customers want an enterprise ready solution that applies to a broad set of applications and industries."

PowerExchange and FastClone certification, inclusion of HParser in MapR's distribution and integration testing for Ultra Messaging to stream data into MapR's distribution for Hadoop via NFS is currently planned for Q1 2012.
