Install HBase on a Cluster Node

The following instructions explain how to install HBase on a cluster node using manual steps. You can also use the MapR Installer to install HBase.

Execute the following commands as root or using sudo.
  1. Update the list of available packages:
    • Ubuntu:
      apt-get update
    • RedHat/CentOS:
      yum clean all
  2. On each planned HBase Master node, install mapr-hbase-master:
    • Ubuntu:
      apt-get install mapr-hbase-master
    • RedHat/CentOS:
      yum install mapr-hbase-master
  3. On each planned HBase RegionServer node, install mapr-hbase-regionserver:
    • Ubuntu:
      apt-get install mapr-hbase-regionserver
    • RedHat/CentOS:
      yum install mapr-hbase-regionserver
  4. On all HBase nodes, run configure.sh -R:.
    $ /opt/mapr/server/configure.sh -R
