Compressing Data

Use a maprcli command or MCS to change the compression setting for a column family.

maprcli commands

If you want to create a column family and set the compression type for that column family, you can use the -compression parameter in the command maprcli table cf create:
maprcli table cf create -path <path> -compression off|lzf|lz4|zlib
For a full description of this command, see table create.
If you want to change the compression setting for a column family that already exists, use the command maprcli table cf edit and add the -compression parameter:
maprcli table cf edit -path <path> -compression off|lzf|lz4|zlib
For a full description of this command, see table edit.
