Setting the Default Time-to-Live for Column Values

Use maprcli commands or MCS to set the number of seconds for MapR-DB to retain column data in a particular column family.

Important: Before setting the time-to-live on a column family in a MapR-DB JSON table, see Setting TTL for Data.

maprcli commands

Use the -ttl parameter of the maprcli command table cf create to set the time-to-live when you are creating a column family. Use the -ttl parameter of table cf edit to modify the time-to-live for an existing column family.

MCS

  1. Open the table.
  2. Click the Column Families tab.
  3. If you are creating a column family, click the New Column Family button. In the window that opens, set the value in the Time-to-live field.
  4. If you are editing the time-to-live in an existing column family, select the check box next to the column family, then click the Edit Column Family button. In the window that opens, set the value in the Time-to-live field.
