Dataware for data-driven transformation

MapR Ecosystem Pack (MEP) 6.1

MapR Amplifies Power of Kubernetes, Kafka, and MapR Database to Speed Up AI Application Development.

MAPR IS THE LEADING DATA PLATFORM FOR AI AND ANALYTICS

With MEP 6.1, MapR further delivers on the need to enable consumption of data by the broadest possible set of applications and tools. MEP 6.1 delivers brand-new enhancements designed to give developers and data scientists the greatest possible flexibility in how they access data and build powerful AI/ML, real-time analytics, and stateful containerized applications.

New features and capabilities include:

  • MapR Event Store for Apache Kafka: Kafka Schema Registry
  • MapR Database language bindings for Go, C#
  • MapR Container Storage Interface (CSI) plugin for Kubernetes
  • Drill 1.15, including S3 cloud storage plugin
  • Support for Oozie 5.1

MEP 6.1 FEATURES

DRILL 1.15

  • New cloud storage plugin for querying S3
  • Parquet row group pruning, applied to filters on STRINGs and DECIMALs
  • Continued improvements in ANSI SQL capabilities
  • Expanded capabilities to Web UI
  • Query planning optimizations that leverage MapR Database's secondary indexes, open sourced

CONTAINER STORAGE INTERFACE (CSI) FOR KUBERNETES

  • Persistent storage for compute running in Kubernetes-managed containers.
  • Future-proof your Kubernetes+Storage deployment. Unlike the Kubernetes FlexVol-based volume plugin, storage is no longer tightly coupled or dependent on Kubernetes releases.
  • Greater stability. Unlike the Kubernetes FlexVol-based volume plugin, the storage interface is also decoupled entirely from critical Kubernetes components.
  • Separation of privileges. CSI components do not need full privileges of Kubernetes components.

MAPR DATABASE - NEW LANGUAGE BINDINGS

  • Build new applications in the language of choice on MapR Database. In addition to previously-supported language bindings of Java, Python, and Node.JS, language support now extends to Go and C#.
  • Enhanced developer productivity on MapR Database.
  • Builds on the gRPC-based thin client architecture and fully native language bindings with no dependencies.

MAPR EVENT STORE FOR APACHE KAFKA - KAFKA SCHEMA REGISTRY (DEV PREVIEW)

  • Allows structure of streams data to be formally defined and stored, letting data consumers better understand data producers.
  • Provides centralized schema management and compatibility checks as schemas evolve.
