MapR Academy on-demand courses stream content from a content management system (CMS). In some cases, a personal or corporate firewall will block content from common CMS domains to reduce the risk of malware being downloaded. The security settings for your web browser will allow MapR Academy content from our specific CMS domains to display, while still protecting your system from other, unknown content.

To resolve common display errors, you must provide security exceptions for the following domains:

For Corporate Firewalls:
Submit a ticket with your IT department, to request access to content from the domains listed above.

For Private Users:
Follow the directions for your specific OS and browser to allow content from the domains listed above. Note that the directions to allow domain access can vary even between versions of the same browser, so make sure that you find the steps for your specific browser and OS combination.

Many of the quizzes on MapR Academy are built using Flash. Make sure you are using the latest version of your browser and the latest version of Flash in order to take the quizzes.

If you have taken a quiz but did not pass it, you may retake it as many times as you like until you pass. Once you have passed a quiz with a score of 70% or higher, you cannot retake or review quiz materials.

Most courses in MapR Academy include one or more hands-on lab activities. Your course's specific lab guide will have a link to the appropriate sandbox for the course. Labs can be completed by downloading and installing either VMware or VirtualBox, and the appropriate MapR Academy sandbox. Both of these options are free.

It is the responsibility of the Test Taker to maintain connectivity to the exam for the entire test session. MapR is not responsible for the loss of a test session should connectivity to the exam fail. If you lose connectivity to the exam, get back on as soon as you can. Time will not be added to your exam, but you can continue until time runs out. It is your responsibility to reconnect to the exam within the exam session time, and complete your exam.

The exam proctor will try to assist you, but it is your responsibility to ensure you have a reliable connection to the exam service. If you are unable to re-establish connectivity to your exam, your session will time-out (most exams are 2-hour maximum) and your exam will be scored at the point at which you disconnected from the exam. No refunds will be given for an unintentional disconnect.

You have 6 months to complete your certification from the time of purchase in learn.mapr.com. After 6 months have expired, your exam registration will be automatically canceled. There are no refunds for expired certification purchases.

MapR Certification exams are non-refundable. If you have purchased an exam by mistake and you need a different exam, we can change the exam registration to a different exam, but we do not refund exam sales.

Once you purchase an exam you will have 6 months to take the exam. We recommend that you download the Study Guide for the certification you're interested in, complete all of the recommended training in the study guide, and then make your exam purchase when you're ready to complete the certification. If your exam registration expires after 6 months, you will not be refunded.

MapR Certifications do not expire. Once you get certified in a role, such as Cluster Administrator, at a given version such as 5.1, that version of your credential remains. The certification will continue to evolve and update with the software however, and your Cluster Administrator 5.1 credential will become obsolete on its own. When MapR version 7.x is the version in use, version 5.x will be less valuable to you and to your employer.

We encourage credential holders to remain current with their credential, and we offer recertification at a significant discount to keep you up to date.

If you have failed an exam, you may purchase a discounted retake for $100.

Retake exams are not available in the MapR Academy catalogue. If you fail your exam you will receive an email with instructions on how to purchase the discount retake exam.

Retake exams are only valid for those who have taken and failed a certification exam. Retake exams are valid for 6 months from the time of purchase, just like regular first take exams.

You will be required to wait 2 weeks between exam attempts.
